Join Perennia specialists Amy Sangster and Av Singh, and Environmental Farm Planner Kathryn Bremner, for a three-hour session on calculating application rates of organic soil amendments to meet crop demands.
There will be an overview of nutrient behaviour in soils, followed by a hands-on session in which participants will determine application rates based on soil test reports, plant requirements, and their own intuition and experience.
Participants will choose from examples of commercial organic amendments, as well as compost and manure test results, to complete their soils fertility program.
Registration fee: $15+HST
As part of the workshop, participants will receive a hard copy of Building Soils for Better Crops, edited by Fred Magdoff and Harold van Es, a valuable resource for farms of any type, production method, or scale.
